The Vehicle – Renault Clio 16V.
The Brief –
The owner wanted his Clio ‘de-swirling’ and given a finish that would accentuate the metallic flake in his paintwork. Being a keen member of the Clio community, the owner wanted a vehicle that represented his pride in the ownership of this marque.
The Wash process -
Pre soak foam with Super Snow Foam: Maxi Suds II from the Gilmour gun.
Rinse.
Treat the wheels with Chemical Guy’s Extreme Blue Wheel Cleaner
Rinse
Clean tyres / trim and inner arches using Meguiar’s All Purpose Cleaner.
Rinse.
Wash with Meguiars Shampoo Plus, with Eurow Mitts and a two bucket method.
Rinse.
Lightly clayed with Sonus Green clay.
Dried using Meguiar’s Water magnets and Meguiar’s Last Touch Quick Detail spray, then given a final buff using plush Europak Microfibre clothes.
The tyres and inner arches to were treated with Meguiar’s Hyper Dressing cut 2:1 with water,
The wheels treated with Chemical Guy’s Rim Wax.
We then masked off any items of trim using 3M 3434 tape.
After doing a full visual and paint thickness examination using an Elcometer 456 PTG, we set about establishing a safe pad and product combo to deal with the swirls on this Clio.
The Polishing Procedure-
All residue was buffed off with Plush MF’s, then the whole car glazed with Chemical Guy’s EZ Cream Glaze using the PC with a Sonus SFX3.
The car demasked and all trim cleaned with Einszett Plastic Cleaner
All trim dressed with Meguiar’s #38 except the roof spoiler and front splitter that were treated to Chemical Guys’s New Trim Gel.
Glass cleaned with Meguiars Glass Cleaner Concentrate.
Any areas that we couldn’t get into with the PC were polished by hand using Chemical Guy’s Cherry Wet Wax (an excellent Cleaner Wax)
The whole car buffed, including tyres and wheels.
We then applied a coat of Einszett 1Z Glanz Wax.
All door shuts etc were cleaned while the Glanz got chance to cure. We then final buffed using fresh Micropak ultra plush MF’s.
