Today’s detail – 55 plate Subaru WRX ProDrive.

Dan arrived bang on time, 8.00 am this morning. I could hear the roar of the Subaru 2 streets away. Dan had been at the Irmscher Vectra detail, and wanted to see first hand the power of the PC.

I came prepared –

This is ‘just’ my mobile kit.

We’d noticed last week that the Subaru had a coating of some type on his car, so I fetched the Finish Kare 1119 Soil and Coating remover-

image

So, after a pre rinse followed by a soak with Snow Foam, applied by the Suds Blaster, I applied a ‘wash’ of FK1119 and allowed it to soak as per the instruction. After a rinse, followed by the wheels getting a coating of APC through the Suds Blaster, I washed as normal with Meguiar’s Shampoo Plus. Rinsed off for a third time, then taken up to the polishing shop.

Under the gas halogen lights, Dan’s swirls were quite prolific.-

Following a clay session with some Sonus Green and Meguiar’s Last Touch, to remove anything left after the FK1119, we did a paint thickness inspection-

image

image

We used an elcometer 456 for the steel panels, and an elcometer 300 for the bonnet. No problem areas were found, so we started to polish with the PC. The bonnet and roof were polished with Menzerna Intensive Polish and an orange Lake County pad. I found this product a little too dusty, but this will be sorted with experience. For the vertical panels we swapped over to Poorboys SSR2 with a White SFX pad.

Dan and the PC-

The swirls gone after 1 set with te Menz IP, and a surface ready for last step products-

Any random scratches, that the SSR2 didn’t take out were treated with Menzerna Power Compound, followed by a pass of SSR2. After polishing the car, we applied a coat of Meguiar’s #7 Show Car glaze by PC with a black Lack County pad. Wiped off and applied a coat of Poorboys EX-P-

image

Wiped down the Ex-P after giving it half an hour to fully bond to the Subaru, then Dan applied a coat of Poorboys Natty’s blue wax.

image

I buffed this coat off, then Dan spit shined a coat of Pinnacle Souveran over the Natty’s. The quality of reflections at this point were awesome-

I wanted to roll the car out into the afternoon sun at this point, but the weather was against us-

StiPPP showed up, to make the day feel like a Subaru owners meet-
