Irmscher Vectra C.
Ian turned up this morning for a little 1 on 1 after the Vectra-C detailing day.
The process - There are no before pics, sorry.
Washed with Snow Foam.
Wheels and arches soaked with Kirkland APC
Washed with Meguiar’s Shampoo Plus with Eurow mitts and a two bucket method.
We didn’t dry, as this one was in need of a good clay session.
Clayed with Zaino (or pinnacle, or mothers clay ) and Meguiar’s Last Touch as lube. We took our time, keeping the clay warm so as not to inflict any marring.
After claying, we dressed all trim with Meguiar’s #38 Tyre and Trim Gel, and the tyres with Meguiar’s Hyper Dressing cut 3:1. Any fears about the longetivity of the water based Hyper Dressing getting washed off in the rain have been quelled. 1500 miles in a wet fortnight, and my L200 tyres still looking good.
Onto the polish. Ian has just invested in a PC after reading this great forum, and wanted some tips on using it. We used Sonus SFX 2 polishing pads with a 6” cross of Poorboys SSR2 for each 2’ x 2’ section. Spread on 1, with a quick arm movement and no pressure. Polished at speed 4 with 1” per second movement and full pressure to the PC head followed by a final pass at speed 6 with good head pressure and 1” per second. Any minor swirls were removed, and the clearcoat on the Vectra C taking on a new found optical clarity. Wiped down with Meguiar’s Supreme Shine Microfibres. We then applied the thinnest of coats of Poorboys EX-P to the silver Vectra. Left it to bond for half an hour, while we cleaned all glass with Meguiar’s Glass Cleaner Concentrate. Ian then applied a coat of Poorboys Nattys Wax. Out with the Pakshak MF’s (thanks for the freebies Johnny )
Here we are, I think this looks gorgeous-

Then outside into a rather dull and overcast spring afternoon. Ian’s Vectra really sparking, nice and bright as intended.

I’ve had a top day of polishing, and Ian was a top bloke too. Thanks fella. |
